Homemade Onion Soup Mix

We love having this homemade onion soup mix ready to go. My brother in law is allergic to MSG, so it’s always great to have an easy seasoning on hand when we are entertaining for him!

This homemade onion soup mix is great in soups like chicken noodle soup, but it works for just about anything you want to add some flavor to. Grilled chicken breasts, 4 Ingredient Chicken Rice Casserole, you name it!

What Is In Onion Soup Mix

Homemade onion soup mix will almost always contain the following:

  • onion flakes
  • beef bouillon granules
  • onion powder
  • paprika
  • garlic powder

I like to add black pepper to my homemade onion soup mix. With pepper, it’s important to make sure it’s finely ground. If it has big granules, it will not mix into the seasoning well!

I never have onion soup mix in my cupboard so this is a lifesaver. I did have one question – can the beef bouillon be substituted with chicken broth powder? Or chicken bouillon? I have a couple of family members that do not eat beef but will eat chicken.
